Default Success - no more CEL

Had a CEL for secondary air pump - insufficient flow. Had service shop reset once - they suggested cleaning some stuff, maybe failing secondary air pump.
Went for a few days, light came back.

Posting symptoms here led me to check the vac line going from the combi valve to below the manifold - bingo - vac line was badly frayed and broken at the combi end. Replaced it and it has been CEL free for the past week. Saved me money and I am now (just a little bit) smarter.

I love this forum.

Next up -
replace air filter
clean MAF
swap to 710N
clean throttle body (and likely another check valve and vac line buried under the manifiold with I have this open)
replace valve cover gasket

Default IIRC, I had the same thing back in the spring

It was the vac line, too.

Default I replaced mine the other day... I had a CEL for months.

no more code and no more CEL. It's getting emissions tested today so I had to figure it out and finally fix it.

Default Just an FYI...could be the smog pump itself if...

1) Problem recurs
2) When you first the car, your car sounds like a growling jet engine or vacuum cleaner.

I had had recurring CELs with the same codes and most places kept on replacing the vacuum lines which were cracked. This did not fix the CELs nor the horrible sounds. One place finally said that I likely had a cracked smog pump housing. They were right.
