I recently had the following components installed in my 99.5 A4 1.8T QMS:<p>1) JL Audio Evolution XR 5.25CS 2-way component speakers in the stock front door panel opening (quasi-coaxial configuation)<p>2) JL Audio Stealthbox (rear deck)<p>3) Precision Power (Butler) LDX-23 external crossover (12 or 24 db/octave slope; high and low pass at any frequency)<p>4) Precision Power (Butler) TubeDrive TD475 4 x 75W amplifier<p> I prefer Sound Quality vs. SPL, and in particular, demand a "tight", articulate, and rhythmic bass response with minimal "muddiness" and absolutely no ill-defined "boom" as the foundation for my car audio system.<p> Any suggestions for an initial crossover point to help me achieve my car audio goals?<p> Thanks in advance!!!

Sweet System!! I am going to install a 10W3-D6 and a PPI PC2200 when my car arrives. I like the stealth box though, nice design. <p>I had a similar system in a previous car and here are the settings I found to work best. I crossed the front at 90Hz and the rear at 100Hz with a slope of 24dB/octive. The Sub was crossed over at 80Hz with a 24dB/octive slope. This setup seemed to work very well, some may say the fronts were X'd over a little low, but, if your amplifier has enough guts and your speakers are high quality the mid-bass "snap" of the snare drum sounds pretty good. I believe your equipment will also support these settings. Let us know what you think of the Stealth Box.<p>Adam

I can't remember offhand where I ended up, not far from 80 tho'. At first I crossed it at 100, thinking that it might help overcome the fact that I have 5 1/4's up front, whereas I am used to 6 1/2's. However, it tended to draw the soundstage back too much for my taste. Ended up around 80 or so...so start there & then tweak to taste. I can't speak for anyone else, but I am in audio bliss...<p>steve
