sunroof dying, cause: unknown

<center><img src="http://content.collegehumor.com/pictures/picture_114.jpg"></center><p>ok, when i open the sunroof it makes this horrible noise like bones breaking and stuff, but it opens totally normal and closes totally normal. even when you angle it it does it but is still normal. nothing is loose. when i looked in the little well it rides there are pieces of gry plastic that are broken off something. any ideas?

What you need is the sunroof guides. You would need to remove the headliner and remove the sunroof frame. Then the guides will slide out the back. INstall new ones and put it all nack together. Not a hard job if you done a few but def not a typical DIYer.

Haven't had a problem with sealing or opening.....it just sounds NASTY.....sprayed some white lithium grease in there and the noise suppressed. Worth a shot

mine is doing the same thing, so i'm scared to open and close it. i took it to the shop in my area and they said it would cost around $1000 to fix it. i just told them to let it be. don't really need that damn thing anyway.

Mine did that too and i noticed that it was just these black plastic guides that were causing the horrendous cracking noise. So i popped them off and it is good as new! Don't know if it's the best idea but it's nice on the wallet!
