Default Sunroof tint % 35 or 50?

What percent tint is the sunroof?
I am getting my windows tinted tomorrow and would like to get about that shade of tint on the sides and slightly darker on the back.

Default I went with 35% all around (more)

I was debating this myself. Originally, I was going to go with 20% all around, but when you combine that with the factory tint, it would have been way too dark (legal issues, looks, etc.). Personally, I don't like the look of darker tint on the back windows and lighter tint on the front windows. It makes the car look very un-uniform. I really like the look of my silver A4 with 35% all around. I wish I had a picture to post.
Later,
Mike B.
silver 99.5 1.8TQMS

Default No expert but. . . .

I would guess that the sunroof tint has to be darker than 35%. I had 35% on my old car for 7 years, trust me 35% isn't that dark. You have to go darker (around 20%) than 35% to start to get a true black color. I think mine (99.5) shows a hint of black. My guess would be 20%.

do you think the 35% you put on is the same or darker than the sunroof?

Re: the sunroof is like 10-20% tint --- much darker.

Default Re: I have 50%

I wish I had gotten 35%. The 50% i have is lighter than I'd like, but fortunately the onyx interior makes it look darker.

Default Agreed (more)

The sunroof tint looks lighter when you don't have any tint on your windows because of all the light passing through it. Be careful when choosing a tint, although it may look light by just holding them up or looking through a windown, once all the windows are tinted, and the light is kept out of the car, then the tint will look much darker.
My 2 cents.

Default Exactly! (more)

That is exactly why I stayed with 35% instead of 20%. When you combine the 35% with the factory tint (80-90%), it's probably equivalent to 28-30%. Also, when you factor in the onyx (black) interior, it makes the tint look really dark from the outside.
I'm really, really happy with my 35% all-around tint. It makes the car look really sharp without looking too "pimpish". I was speechless when I went to pick up my car from the tint shop....it looked that good!
Mike B.
silver 99.5 1.8TQMS

God, I wish that I could tint my A4 all the way around. IL law doesn't allow tinted front side windows, which I think looks dumb if you tint just the back. I suppose I can still tint it somewhere, but that'll be one extra reason a cop would pull me over.
Mark
99.5 1.8T qms and wanting to move to a warmer state!!!
