I had had an unknown water leak on the drivers side of my 1996 a4 quattro, leaving a puddle of water in my rear and front side. I recently discovered the leak is from the rear left sunroof drain by pouring water through the hole and watching it dribble down the b-pillar along the seatbelt and along the door down to the fuse box.
Today, I took off the upper portion of the b-pillar and pulled the headliner so I could try to pinpoint the leak location. As I poured the water, I could see it literally go straight through the drain hole and down the headliner, onto my head. From the info I have found from other posts, I thought there was supposed to be a hose that drained out the rear end, although I could not see any such hose. Does anyone know any information about the '96 sunroof drainage system and why there seems to be no hose or channel for the water to drain?

[QUOTE=mtroxel;24091281]There is a rear drain. Yours is plugged. See this from Bentley.
thanks for the diagram. I figured I could clean out the drain by fishing it through the top instead of taking the bumper off. When i looked above the headliner and poured, it really looked like there was no hose connected at all. Is there a diagram in bentley for the entire drainage system?

pulled the headliner back again and this is what I see. I fished a wire through the rear sr drain, which you can see the light coming through.
Is there supposed to be a drain tube somewhere or what? I thought the tube was supposed to run along roof and down the c-pillar and out the bumper. I am confused...
I am kinda new with forums so if i posted the pics wrong plz let me know

I'm not sure. Never had the headliner out. I know the VW's from that era have a real problem with it all. Apparently the tubes come disconnected from the roof and/or the grommets where they come out of the body. Check out what this guy did to solve it. Good idea, and he did it cheap too!

sooooo, I poured a lot of water on my lower windshield and found an inch of water in the back seat
Either the drain underneath the brake servo or the other beneath the battery are clogged up OR I have another leak from around the firewall. What is the best way to clean that drain w/out removing the entire brake servo?
