Sunroof won't close

I haven't opened my sunroof in probably a year. Just went to start my car and the sunroof started opening. I didn't even turn the **** to open it. I heard a few cracks, sounded like breaking glass. I looked up there and found a few pieces of broken gray plastic. Now when I try to shut the sunroof, it gets to the point where it almost closes and then reverses and opens up. I can't close it. Anyone have any ideas?

In short, something on the rail broke and you should start research on how to take out the sunroof and ordering parts to replace what broke. It is not an easy job, but not impossible. Good luck.
In the meanwhile, use the manual crank to see if you can get the sunroof closed at least...
