Default Suspension Clunk / Bilstein questions...long

'99 A4 2.8 Quattro Sport (120,000mi)

I've had a loud clunking in my front right suspension when ever i go over bumps or into/out of driveways at really low speeds. I put it up on a lift with my mech. and we couldnt find any play in any of the b-joints, swaybar links bushings or anything else. So he thinks it might be the shock. The dealer wants $295 for one sport shock and at that price i might as well buy a full set of Bilstein sports. So here are my questions
(I searched the archives and other websites and got lost in all the conflicting info)

1st. Can i use my OEM sport springs with the Bilstein sports? I found a post that said it was alright but now i cant find it. If anyone has pics of this setup I would like to see them thanks. (pref. non neuspeed bilsteins)

2nd. Bilsteins website says B36-2081 for the front and Be3-2622 for the rear. Neuspeeds website says the same for the fronts but BE3-2669 for the rear up to '01 (Bilstein says these are for '98 or less). most of the posts in the archives say Be3-2669 in the back also. Which do i get?

I'm not really looking to lower my car but dont care if this setup does lower it...I just want the clunking to stop and not gain any wheel gap.

TIA for any input

Default did you check the bolt on the top of the shock?

if it came lose then you'd hear it hit the upper firewall. also make sure the bolts that hold the shock tower in are nice and tight (3 of them i think)

i know i did. sounds like a similar noise.

Nice...Thanks for the input guys! A fix with no cost would be an amazing thing...a first for me and my audi. I'll pull the shock out this weekend and have a look.
