this the bolt that conencts the two upper control arms to the wheel bearing assembly.
Is it threaded all the way through? I.E. - I got the nut off but can't get the bolt off - cant get my impact wrench of the left side of the bolt so can I bang it out with a hammer or is it threaded? How the heck do I get this bolt out so I can finish removing the trut/spring assemply? I have read through all the archives and everyone says "remove the bolt" I need more descriptin if possible...
thanks
This sucks...

It's partially threaded, but it can get majorly rusted on those snow driven cars.
Use pentrating fluid heavily, and prepare to replace the bolt.
You can remove the shock without removing that bolt, it just requires a little more force to get the bottom mount up and over the control arm. Work with a second person, and have them help by turning the steering wheel while you remove the shock.

apparently it's pretty common for that bolt to be rusted solid. I worked on it for hours with every chemical and hammer in the book. After hours of pounding it would turn back and forth some but not completely out. I finally twisted the head off of the bolt, put the nut back on and twisted on the nut to draw the bolt through. It was long and tedious with several times of removing the nut to put in spacers so I stayed on clean thread. But as they have said here, you don't have to take out that bolt if you don't want to. For me it was to late. I had beaten on it long enough that I didn't dare just leave them in there. The dealer had them in stock so I just used home depot bolts for a couple of days until I made it over to the dealer to pick them up. Didn't even have to take the front wheels of to replace them. Good luck
