Suspension knock when steering wheel is locked.

I jacked it up and there was a slight amount of play on the upper control arms. I was going to get the motor mounts replaced but I am going to get a second opinion on the subject. The other mechanic I spoke to said that it could be a bad ball joint (control arm) maybe the lower ones, because the car doesn't really make a noise its just as if the wheel moves up and down while going forward or backwards. No noises whatsoever.
