Default Suspension upgrade

There's 2 coilover kits that fit my price point (around $1000): Tein SS and Stasis Street Sport. I'm leaning to Stasis mainly because of their excellent reputation. The Tein product is intriguing -- each shock can be adjusted externally and the spring rates are high, at least on the front it's high (895 lbs/in), maybe crazy high. My only concern with the Stasis product is that spring rates may be too low (400 front, 390 rear I believe).

I'm basically looking for a fairly conversative upgrade -- I won't be taking the car to the track, but I want the height adjustment, better handling and definitely want to reduce the body pitch and roll. I'd still like a fairly comfortable ride (most of my driving is highway BTW).

Any input on these 2 suspension kits or anything else in the $1000 price range?

Thanks.

Default Eibach pro street kits are great and can be found under $1000

they do lower a full 1.5" though and speed bumps will be your worst enemy. Ride quality is still very smooth and handling is greatly improved. Plus you get the biggest friggin' swaybar I've ever seen.

Default I'd save a $100 and go with the Stasis GB. I'd definetly try and find someone on the boards

that would be willing to give you a test drive/ride.

FWIW I've riden in a b6 avant with the SS's and found them quite comfortable, almost stock like. But they are certainly more flat on turns and really give the car a completly different ride characteristic.

If you want to reduce body roll, you should be looking at sway bars as well.

Default Stasis Streetsports

I have had these on my car since last July. They are very conservative. I had the sport package suspension on before this, and these Konis are actually a little softer, yet the car does in fact handle better. It is not a huge difference, but a good replacement alternative (I had 115,000 on the stock shocks). I'll be raising them up for winter soon, but the picture gives you an idea of the height they are set to. This could be lowered even more if you want. I commute 80 miles a day, so I wanted a nice, soft ride rather than a more aggresive setup.

Default Pretty similar

Well, i got the car at 83k, and put them on at 115, so I can't compare them to what a new sport suspension feels like. But the konis feel softer, and absorb a lot of the "little" stuff, while still keeping handling pretty tight. I think the car handles much better than stock. However, they are one of the more mild setups to have. I wouldn't recommend them for any type of track, racing etc; but they are great for daily driving.

I got them from a group buy for less than $1k, and I think it was well worth it. I like the settings that Stasis gives them, and I think it's worth while to have them properly adjusted before you put them on, so you don't have to worry about it afterwords.
