Hey Everyone,
I am considering an purchasing a used ECU with an APR chip to swap into 2000 A4 1.8t Quattro Manual transmisson. The donor ECU only has one program on the APR chip. I am not familiar with the A4 ECU compatibility and immobilizer issues. The ECU with the chip was removed from a 2000 FWD A4 with a manual transmission...will this be a compatible match?
I'm planning to compare the part number of donor ecu (4B0 906 018 BG) to my stock ECU after work tomorrow. Would I need VAGCOM to swap the ECU's ?
I have searched through many posts on the forum in order to find the answer to my question. I would appreciate any advice regarding this issue.

It will work, no immobilizer in the 2000. You can swap it right in since both cars are manual, the Quattro vs FWD doesn't matter since the driveline is not controlled by the ecu.
If you want you can also recode the soft code in the chipped ecu with the same soft code that is in your stock ecu. This can be done with a vagcom.
BTW I did the exact same thing, swapped in a ECU from a FWD 2000 into my quattro 2000. Both ECU's should be a 018P.

Thanks for your quick response! Can I run the ecu and chip without using Vagcom? I'm pretty new to the world of Audi's so, I don't have Vagcom yet.

I double checked my ECU part number which ends in 018P; where as the donor ECU part number is 4B0 906 018 BG. Can the swap still work? The used FWD A4 ECU is only $200.
