Default Switching from stock 15 inchers to 17x8.0 soon

What size tire should I go for to keep consistency with my speedometer? I know that if they're too large in diameter (in relation to the stock 15s), they'll mess up the reading.

Not quite sure I need suggestions on what brand of tire, though...plenty of threads on that. :-)

Default So...if my math is correct...

The stock wheels I have (15 inch with 205/60 tires) have a diamater of 627 mm.

I just need to find a wheel-tire combo that is very close to this measurement, then.

Default So, 225/45x17 is the closest to OEM I can get.

I'll have to check these out.

Default For those interested in the mathematical outcomes:

Stock 627 mm
225/45x17 634.3 mm
235/45x17 643.3 mm
235/40x17 619.8 mm

Default Re: So...if my math is correct...

by that math the tires are

stock 205/60/15 = 24.68
215/45/17 = 24.62
225/45/17 = 24.97
235/40/17 = 24.40
245/40/17 = 24.72

Take your pick

Default Re: yes

Actually, that's the same size as the tire on the A4's that come with 17" wheels from the factory.
