Default Symphony Radio Problem - Jumping Frequency

I have a 2000 A4 1.8T with the standard Symphony Radio (non-Bose) and I've noticed that if the radio is on FM when I shut off the engine the next time I restart the engine the radio jumps a single frequency, say 101.5 -> 101.7.

I found a thread regarding this problem while searching but nobody has reported a successful resolution. Is there a 100% answer to this problem (I'm guessing replacing the head-unit)?

Is Audi aware of the issue? My local service manager didn't know about it. Any advice on my best course of action would be appreciated

-Brian

BTW: I have a co-worker experiencing the exact same symptoms with her 2000 A4.<p>-------------------

Default Radio Gremlins

This has been a recurring "problem" on most '00 model Symphony Stereos. To my knowledge, there is not a 100% definitive answer to the cause.

Others, like myself, have experienced the treble and bass settings to MAX out and the fader setting that sends all music to the rear speakers. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen a regular basis. Therefore, the likelihood of this occuring at the dealership is quite low.

I think as more and more of us purchase the '00 models, Audi and each dealership will become more familiar with the issue.

After a while, though, it stops bugging you. Now, if I can just keep the front seats from moving about.

Default Re: Radio Gremlins

Actually, I just received a call from my local dealer's service manager who had contacted Audi Technical Services.

Apparently they received a batch of bad radios and they are tracking effected vehicles by VIN. Not sure if they are going to start notifying owners or not but the solution is head-unit replacement according to the SM.

Now let's see if they give me a hard time over having an amplifier spliced into the system...

Default Same problem

I mentioned this at my 5000 mile service and they sort of smiled and patted me on the head and of course, nothing was done. Oh well, not a really big deal.

I posted the same question several weeks ago. I printed out the several responses and took them to the dealer. They have ordered a new radio for me, no questions asked. They still have not got the new radio in though.

Same here 2000 A4 bought in january.Had it on 95.3 then when I started the car later or the next day 95.4. Really strange, because it did that for about a month, but it has'nt done it since february or so.I'm not sure if they do that for awhile then it adjusts on its own .I;ll bring it up when I take the car in.

Default Mine changed once as I was driving along...

I was cruising home on the evening commute when the channel randomly changed...never happens when I turn the car off and on. Only happened once...and that odd intermittent flicker from the radio makes me think I am having daymares.

Same problem on my 2000 A4. Its 5000 miles service is 5/30/00. See what my dealer wants to do!
