Default Symptoms of a dead DV?

So I just got a GIAC flashed ECU and upon installing it noticed a huge gain in boost. Of course, it lasted about 2 hours and that was it. It started surging and it would build boost really quickly and then just drop off and then come back on but with hardly any boost. Now, a day later,it's pretty much not boosting at all. I have a 710N sitting on the table waiting to be installed but I need space do it (apartment living =P). Anyway, could my stock DV be murdered, or does it just sound more like a boost leak somewhere? Just wanted your opinions. TIA. Oh, and I did STFA but all the surging problems seemed to be K04 related...or different DV brand related.

Default What do you mean space? You don't even have to raise the car up to get to the DV

It's either your DV, N75, or (long shot) a boost leak.

Default There's enough room? I know you have to take the belly pan off in the front...

...but I didn't think there was enough space to work in. If you say there is, I'll believe you and go look at it today. I hope it's not the N75...especially since I don't know where it is! Ha!

Default Yeah, just remove the belly pan and BAM!

there it is. It really is that easy. The N75 is directly above it, accessible from top down.

Default be sure to check purge valves under the engine cover!

And the N75 is above the DV. Depthcharge and I found this problem on his car, he thought it was the IC hose but we smoke tested it and found a purge valve leak.

Here is a write up by BSK showing the N75 on the passenger side of the engine.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng70.shtml</a

Default Check this engine diagram, number 11 in the picture

its ok. Me and Depthcharge [local friend] are just getting into working on Audi's too.

Make sure to your lines for some visible rips and tears. You should look into getting VAG. DC bought it and it makes diagnosing problems easy.

There are some tech articles around on how to build a boost leak detector - but its more difficult because you have to listen for the hiss or have a lit cigarrette over the engine and see where the smoke is disturbed.
