Well after just getting my 97 A4 back from the shop costing 1500 dollars I realized the right tailight bulb (the one right above the back up light) was out. Simple fix I thought. Replaced the bulb and it still isn't working. Turns out the old bulb is good as the fillament is still intact and when tested it works fine. So it appears to be the socket and or wiring. Is this a common problem and is there an easy fix. I couldnt figure out which wires went to the socket to test for power so if anyone knows which those are that would help alot.

I think there is a fuse for that. You may want to check that first.

Not yet as I assumed that there would be more then one bulb per fuse. I will check though.

do you have the original tails or did you upgrade to a newer style and rewire it? Either way, I would first check the fuses. If the fuse is fine..report back and we will hunt down the cause of this problem.

I shall check in the morning and see if that is the cultrate (hoping so). No still have the original amber tails.

Figured out the problem I mistook the turn signal bulb for that bulb, yeah im an idiot... Thanks for your input!
