Default taking car in to get strange whirring noise looked at (advice?)
My 01 makes a low-pitched whirring noise when the engine is right around 2k-2500 rpm under light load. The noise is engine speed dependent, too - faster engine=higher pitched noise. I took it in, both salesman and service guy heard it, but couldn't I.D. it. I'm taking it in for the day tomorrow so they can dig deeper. Anyone had this problem, or have any possible reasons for this sound?

no, the problem isn't speed dependent, just engine speed dependent. I shouldn't be the wheels in this case...

Could be a bad bearing in the serpentine belt tensioner.
