taller 5th gear?

is there anyone out there that makes a taller 5th gear for a quattro tranny, cruisin at 80, the rpms seem too high at 3600.

I remeber hearing the 2.8 tranny is taller than the 1.8 tranny

someone here offered to put in a 6-speed S4 tranny into an A4...

for a mere 5 grand :-)

IIRC my 80mph is 3200rpm with the 2.8 tranny@5th gear

Abt sells taller gears...or do a tranny (RS2, S4, 2.8, new 1.8T 6spd) swap

I would pay for a taller 5th gear or a 6th, even.

Ive noticed this myself. I thought 80mph @ 3600 birdies every day to and from work was a bit high.
Just got in a 6-speed tiptronic A4 today, I was doing my usual cruising speed of 80mph on Westbound I-285 in Atlanta, and I noticed I was turning somewhere in the mid-2000's.

A taller 5th gear I would pay for (or, a 6th gear, even better). This has got to be ungodly expensive... has anyone attempted this?
