Default Tech help PLEASE - Removal of Tie Rod End...

The car is open and all splayed out, I'm having the worst time trying to remove the tie rod end. There is a bolt on the tie rod end that screws into the tie rod with a nut that keeps it in place. Seems to me like I have to hold the tie rod while trying to turn the tie rod end free bolt to {"unlock") it. However this isn't working. I'm not at home, so I don't have the Bentley at hand, can anyone help, Bentely or otherwise?!? MANY THANKS,
I'll owe you one.

Default There is a binch bolt, and the bolt on the end of the ball stud... remove the one on the end of the

stud first, then the pinch bolt. You might need a puller to get the stud out of the knuckle..

Isn't there a Allen Wrench opening on the end of the bolt? Insert the allen wrench, hold the bolt still, then you can unscrew the nut.

Default Air tools....

air tools should remove it for you. You may need a tie rod puller to get the tie rod free though.

Default Are you talking about the front steering tie rods? If so, that top bolt is all that holds it....

after you take off (not loosen) the nut and pin going through the side of the tie rod shaft - which is your bump steer adjusting nut. The tie rod pops out easy - at least you should be able to pull it out by hand from the bottom when the top bolt and side nut and pin are off - unless they are rusted in place.

Default naw after all that, you have to remove the tie rod end from the tie rod. I'm stuck there

I finally got to removing the thin nut but when it comes to unscrewing the entire tie rod end from the toe rod knuckle, it's stuck.

Default I know what your talking about,

Had a torn tie rod end ball joint boot. Managed to get a recalled tie rod end that had a boot in good shape (there are nice people around). We tried to get the tie rod end off, but just couldnt' seperate it from the rest of the rod. Ended up just replacing the boot with the tied rod linked up to the rest of the arm. I feel for you man, we stopped before we ripped or damaged any of the rubber link absorber (you know, when you twist...)
