so i have a 99 1.8tqt and i get like 200 miles per tank. i do mostly city driving but i am by no means an agressive driver, sometimes i lay into it, but i'd say for the most part i try to conserve gas(esspecially with CA gas prices these days). what are some things that might be causeing my bad gas mileage?

Take it into the dealer to check for leaks. Try reserving your gears in higher values. I noticed on my 2001 a4 1.8t there is a huge difference on the display of my current mpg between 3rd gear and 5th. I am just saying try staying in higher gears when on the highway and such.

Are you using at least 91 octane gas? A Chevron near me got their tanks messed up and I got a load of 87 octane. It pinged and knocked like crazy. And I got HORRIBLE milage with the computer retarding the timing.
