is there any other way of doing the clear corner mod without punching or drilling holes

I did the splitting thing on my CL-S. I don't recommend it.
If the Audi headlights are sealed anything like the Honda ones, it's very difficult to scrape off enough of the old silicon when prepping the two pieces for a new seal. The whole thing took me about 6 hours, but that was including removing and re-installing the bumper (necessary on the CL). I haven't done the drilling on the A4, but I'd try just about anything before splitting them open that way. YMMV.
