Default is there any way to change the trip computer from MPH to KM/H? (yes, i searched.)

as the subject states...i travel to canada quite a bit, and will be moving there shortly.

it would be much more convenient than buying a new cluster.

thanks!

Default Yes, you need a VAG-COM tool to recode the cluster for a different country...

This way all the electronic displays (trip comp., odometer, trip meter) will show km instead of miles. You'll find instructions on how to do it on www.ross-tech.com or if you search the archives.

Default There's one downside to this...

When you do the switch, the date/time display on the left gets messed up. You can switch the date part off completely though (gotta play with that left **** - I think it's described in the owner's manual), and the time display is OK for the most part. At least that's how it works on mine, but I think others reported similar issues. All in all not too bad. Mine has been switched over to "Germany" or "Canada" (can't remember) for over a year now.

Default how exactly is it "messed up"?

are the characters all funky, or does the date switch from mm/dd/yyyy to dd/mm/yyyy?

thanks!

Default yeah, it displays funky characters in the date field...

and in the time field, the first digit gets partially cut off. It's hard to explain, but basically, if the time is "12:45", only the top half of "1" is displayed.

So, from "20:00 to 9:59" everything looks fine, but from "10:00 to 19:59", when there is that '1' in first position, only half of that '1' is displayed. It's weird, but I got used to it. :-)

Oh, and if you figure out a way to get around that, please let me know. :-)

that IS cool, but it doesn't change the odometer or trip computer values...
