Is there any way to test the various central locking components?
I have tried every way I can find to reprogram my dead remote with no luck. I even bought a replacement off eBay and it didn't work either. Could it be the receiver? If so, is there a way to test it? I can connect to the computer with my vagcom. Does that mean it's okay?

Yes it is, sitll could be be something wrong and isnt getting a signal.
You could check the CLP receiver. I believe its under the rear seat. Might want to try searching.

do you have the procedure to reprogram it?
When the batteries died in my one remote while under warranty, I recall watching the tech fumbling around my driver's side door for awhile until it worked.
