cover it and itll dim? or shine a light at it and itll dim.
i was under the impression, that it only dims if theres a light shined on it. how about the outside mirrors? do those dim with the same light sensor? youre talking about the one on the rearview mirror correct?

i dont have auto dimming rear view, do i not have auto dimming/heated side mirrors either?
if i dont, why must i pay ~$500 for new mirrors if mine contain no electronics...

Cover the light sensor in the back of the rear view mirror (on the windshield). Make sure you car
doors are shut, ignition on, and all dome lights are off. Hold your hand there for about 10sec-30sec and you should see it dim. I think that's how most auto dimming mirrors work. I'm not sure what sensor the side mirrors use for dimming.

Are they powered? Also what are they replacing, the housings + glass + motors?
If they are replacing everything plus the motors, then that is why. Covers are cheap, if that's all you need.

wait, why would they dim if there is light on back of mirror, sun would dim mirrors then
i thought they would dim if that little pinhole thing on the mirror side of the rear view mirror holder had light shined into it... or is that the side you are talking about
