Step one:disconnect battery ground and let sit for a few minutes to discharge airbag caps.
2: remove steering wheel. 2 torx bolts hold the airbag to the wheel, airbag unit lifts off. Set airbag face up on the floor of the car. The nut on the column is big, I think 23mm or so. The wheel will side easily off the column, but the wires connected to it will not need to come off. You can hang the wheel on the column if you put a rag over the end. (important, if the airbag were to spontaneously discharge, it would not become a projectile)
3: Remove trom over steering column, it just pops off with upward pressure
4: remove 2 screws holding the cluster in, ease cluster out of the dash.
--It may be possible to remove the cluster with out removing the steering wheel, but the last time I did this, I had the wheel off anyway.--
