Are there issues installing afermarket radio and frying the ECU?
I drive a 90 not an A4. Someone here at work bought a used 2001 B5 turbo and just had an aftermarket radio installed because the PO kept the radio. A few weeks after the install the car won't start and her mechanic says the ECU is fried and it was probably from the radio install. He also said fuse #37 was blown and there is a TSB relating to it that it protects the ECU from frying if there is a radio problem. I searched but couldn't find anything. ANyone know anything about this?

There's info about that on Ross-Tech's web site. never heard of it frying an ECU tho.
Using the wrong aftermarket adapter does connect the k-line to 12 volt so it's possible.
I would pull the radio + wiring loom and check if you can scan using Vag.com.
