Is there a way to spray the windshield washer fluid BEFORE the wiper sweeps? Or independently?

Oh a related matter, I searched the archives about the gap on the driver side that doesn't get swept by the wipers (about 3-4 inches). Seems the angle can be changed. Anyone know how? I'll be bringing in the car on Friday. Will ask them to adjust it. Hopefully they won't charge me. Thanks.

All the other cars I've driven, the drivers wiper usually goes almost to the left edge of the windshield.
It rains lots here, so that really bugs me.

All you need to do is pry off the plastic cap on the hub.
There is a a nut there (I think it is 6mm). Just loosen it and adjust the windshield wiper arm up an inch or two and then tighten it down.
You might need to adjust it once or twice depending upon preference.
The downside is that when the blade returns to its resting position, it is going to be slightly higher than it was originally. This does not bother me anywhere near as much as the gap in coverage did.
Good luck

I am a stickler when it comes to keeping my windshield clean (can't drive well if you can't see), and this is what I do:
- if I notice build-up of calcium, water spots, etc., I get some windshield stripping compound ( I think there is a brand called Strip-it) that will remove dried-on water spots and such. Griot's Garage also sells windshield polish. Regular window cleaners like Windes only remove dust and dirt and bugs but not water spots.
- Then I apply something like Rain-X, but I prefer STP VisionBlade because it lasts at least 6-9 months, especially if applied to a clean windshield.
Works great, and even where the wipers don't cover, the water spills off anyway. I don't get any water spotting or build-up during a rain. And the best part is, I don't even need wipers when I get above 30 MPH!

... to check it, they said it was normal... wuch a dumb idea... what I do is push the wiper stalk down to start the blade, then I spray it, stopping the spray when the blade is right there...
yeah, dumb idea... what year is your car? my 01 has the sprayers under the lip of the hood, perhaps the older design of the nozzles on the hood itself are better?

first before the blade moves. I think it is better to have a moist/wet surface before the blade cleans it. I don't think the blade is in any way blocking the spray. However, I did notice when it moving and spraying, initially it is a spray and then it becomes more like a burst. Spray burst spray burst.
