Trying to fix my AC unit. Determined so far that the problem is electrical. Where can I find the Thermostatic switch?

Outside temperature sensor G17 (according to Bentley) is "below front bumper, centre, behind lower grill".The service manual offers nothing else unless you have a VAGCOM. Shorting the leads on the sensor connector should get the AC to switch on. Or heat up sensor and see what happens. Failing that just buy a new switch.http://www.autopartsway.com/autopart....8%20L4~242240

Why do people go so far out of their way paying even more, to avoid the dealer? Then they risk that the part is called "OE", but what they really get is a cheap Chinese knock off. Ask me how I know.
Not to mention the unconditional factory 12m/12k warranty that allows you exchange the part without hassle if it fails.
The only parts I get "after market" are Bosch original and no different from what the dealer sells. And I don't go random Googling either, I go with a known and trusted seller. Namely ones who support the forum.
