My temperature light came on so according to the manual it is either low coolant or the engine is over heating. The temperature gauge is in the middle which it's normally is. I assumed it's low coolant level so I filled it up. I drove my car for a day and the next day the light came on again. I check the coolant tank again and I noticed that the fuild is think and brown. I am going to take into the shop Monday. Have any one of you guys experienced this problem? What can I expect to find out.
Thanks,
Chris

Yeah, a blown head gasket. Then oil comes up past the rings, past the head gasket, and into the coolant port.
Riiiight.
His oil cooler is bad, common issue, no biggie to fix. The hard part is flushing the gack outta the cooling system.
And whatever got in the oil out.

just happened to my dads car and I wouldn't rely on simply flushing the hoses. He's having all of his hoses replaced and the turbocharger as it got into there as well.
What's strange is that the mechanic said that it was caused by a blown head gasket but your explanation makes sense so I don't know. However most of the mechanics in SD have refused to work on it. After the diagnosis he had to take it to the dealership.

Either scenario is quite possible so spare me the condescending remarks....sheesh.
For a *real* diagnosis, take it to a *real* mechanic who can actually look at the car. Relying on people who think they are a mechanic and haven't actually seen the car in question isn't a the best idea. It's great for narrowing things down, but you'll want to have a good mechanic look at the car ASAP.
Cheers,
