You've not overwhelmed the friction provided by the tires...
once you do so the wheels go into lockup and the abs intervenes a fraction of a second later.

I'd test your ABS when you get a chance
next time you have a chance I'd wet a portion of pavement or the next time it rains and you are someplace where no other persons or cars are... just stab the pedal and stand on it, force ABS to intervene.

yip when i brake in the pads and rotors for the first time
i did 10 65 down to 10 mph stops - but the thing is that daily driving makes this process useless and needs to be redone before an event
