for those that mounted bolts to hold the rear deck, did you glue the nut to the rear deck?

for those that mounted bolts to hold the rear deck, did you glue the nut to the rear deck?
my rear deck is creaking again, and I want to try replacing the 3 white snaps in front w/ bolts/hex nuts. should I glue the nut or the bolt to the rear deck metal clip? how did you guys secure the bolt while tightening the nut?

So the creaking comes from the snaps? I always wondered...
...but it's hard to troubleshoot when I'm driving, and I don't trust anyone else behind the wheel! Am I to infer that this problem has been succesfully isolated and remedied by others?
