at least another full one. Mind you, I didn't buy the paint from a dealer, I bought it from an auto body shop. The cans are smallish, but still I need 3 of them.

first off it looks great , good job man.
I have a brilliant black A4 also and was thing of either painting the outer chrome piece of my oem grill black or getting the RS4 grill and doing it to the RS4 grill.
Is the outer chrome on the RS4 grill the same as the A4 , so the painting procedure would be the same regardless of which grill?
Do you have any pointers on the procedure?
Is there a special type of Plasti_Kote needed , or is id just a standard primer , color and clear coat?
Thank You.

the first time i painted it i used Painter's choice primer and paint from the hardware store and after about 3 days it was chipped all to hell.
i stripped that with a handheld portable sander and tried to rough the trim up as much as possible. i then primed it (3 light coats) and painted it (3 light coats) and 1 or 2 light coats of clear coat. i was impatient so the trim isn't actually that smooth in person, but unless you're about 3 inches away from it, it looks fine.
so far it's held up remarkably well and only has some very minor chipping (which includes time on a track with traffic)
afaik, there's only one type of plasti-kote and its made specifically to be automotive touch up paint.
someone else on the forum has a stock grill and rings all paint flat black (including the grill itself) and it looks really nice too.
