Default Throttle lag between shifts with a 5 speed??

Just got my new 1.8T with quattro and a 5 speed. As delivered, the car has a realy annoying throttle lag between shifts - where the engine management system keeps the rev's up between shifts despite my lifting off the throttle. Does anyone know how to disconnect or eliminate this?

Feel like a damn novice with this throttle delay.

I've read this is for emissions. Don't know if it can be disabled.

Default You'll get used to it...

...I noticed this also on my '97 1.8Tqms when I first got it. I've heard two theories as to why it does this:

1) The ECU keeps the revs up in between shifts to help cut down on exhaust emissions.

2) Audi uses a heavy flywheel.

I'm not sure which is the true story but I think you'll find that you get used to it over time...at least I did.

Default I have the APR lightened flywheel and this has been eliminated. It transforms the car. Ask Lucas

My 99.5 does it too -- makes it feel like an automatic doesn't it?

This is definitely a "feature" to reduce emissions. I'm not too sure on the particulars, but the car really puts out a lot of crap if the engine revs fall too fast...so the ECU keeps them up between shifts.

Focus on what your a$$ is telling you about your acceleration

Default I just work with it. When driving non aggressively I just wait until the revs come down to match

the rpm to the next gear. Makes for very smooth shifting. When driving faster I actually like the ""feature" as it holds the revs making more power in the next gear. You'll get used to it.
