throttle valve control module and ISV

I read in a recent issue of Popular Mechanics "All 1997-2001 Audis with a 1.8-liter 5V Turbo or 2.8-liter V6 may exhibit low or fluctuating idle caused by deposits on the interior surfaces of the throttle valve control module. Remove the deposits with a soft cloth and combustion chamber cleaner solvent." I believe this relates to the ISV, but I will readily admit when I know NOTHING about a subject. Could someone point me in the direction of this beast?

the 12 valve has an idle control valve controlled by a stepper motor that has to be cleaned fairly often, but I thought the 30V used the ECU to control the throttle body and there is no valve.
