Thule 600 Monster Box: Need wind noise reduction ideas!

Spare me the "remove the box" wiseass cracks, please.
Box is (was?) Thule's largest. I can't hear myself think at 70 mph. I'm looking for some sort of "V" shaped deflector that will divert air to the left and right sides of the area between box and roof. The standard Thule deflector sends the airstream upward, which would serve only to dangerously increase lift to the box.
I'm pretty much right at mounting point load capacity when I add up bars, feet, box, and cargo; it seems to me that any extra lift will overload the mounting points. There is also considerable overhang in front.
I'm also concerned that to eliminate the air pass-through between box and roof, with a "V"-shaped deflector acting as sort of a fixed rudder, might increase resistance to steering changes.
Suggestions or proven solutions?
