Default Time for a new battery

The Audi dealer says the Audi batteries have some kind of special venting. Any reason to go with a battery from the dealer? What's the best sears battery to get, their web site of course says the most expensive one.

Default One thing to keep in consideration....

The positive post on the OEM Audi battery is towards the driver's left. The only battery on Sears site that is oriented this way is the most expensive ( of course ). You can always use a "conventional" battery and have the terminal posts closer to the passenger compartment and see if your existing battery cables will reach. Or you can relocate the ground cable for the proper orientation. (The positive cable is actually routed from passengers side, driver's right, to drivers side, driver's left.)

Default AFAIK, Sears only sells one battery that fits our cars correctly.

For most cars, Sears offers a choice of several different batteries, for A4's, you have to get the "International" battery. I believe it does have a drain, just like the stock battery. Go to your local Sears and check to make sure the drain tube is there.

Default The vent is the clear tube...

I have no idea where the other end comes out.

Default Interstate makes a battery that fits too. I picked one up at my dealer for.

$85. Also the tube on the battery is a vent for gases not for fluid.

Question: What creates the gases, and how do sealed batteries work?
