timeing belt

I have a 98 A4 2.8 the book says 90K to replace the belt. The Dealer says 75K, the 2000 2.8 book says 105k. My miles are getting close to 75k should I wait? help...

do it ASAP.. you really should do the timing belt waaaaay before even 75k. The reason is that when you do the timing belt on a 2.8, you're going to want to do the water pump at the same time. Water pumps are only rated to 50k-60k. If your water pump sleeve bearing goes out on ya, it's a major hassle to get your car towed to a shop. Not to mention the horrible things that will happen if your timing belt snaps. Get it fixed, I have a '98 2.8QM, and I had some MAJOR repairs when the water pump went bad on me.

..when the pump bearing fails the timing belt goes out about 1/2 second before your motor.
