Default Timing belt.....

I have approx. 75,000 miles on my 2.8 A4. Does anyone know if the timing belt would be covered under an extended warranty contract? I have heard cars with approximately this many miles have run into timing belt problems, how would I know if I have one?
Thanks

Steve

Default In the words of Nike - "JUST DO IT"

I believe (but not sure) that extended warranty covers nothing unless it actually breaks. 75k is just the right time to change the timing belt, disrergard manual's 90k -- unless of course you feel like destroying your engine...

Default are you asking whether standard maintanence is covered or breakage?

standard maintainence is never covered but if it breaks within the service interval it usually is covered. Either way from what I've seen on this forum you are past du for a timing belt by about 15K miles.

You'd be stuck on the side of the road with about a $3,500 repair bill. Don't chance it.

Default Can you look at the belt to see if needs to be replaced?

I got almost 80k on my car and haven't really thought about it....maybe i should!

By the time you remove the portion of the engine to inspect the belt, may as well replace it!
