Default Timing belt and assured warranty

My 98.5 still has over a year left on its assured warranty and at 65K miles I was thinking about the timing belt and the such. So I called the (st) dealer to inquire about timing belt failure and what's covered. The service manager informed me that if the belt goes then whatever damage is done its covered under warranty. Have any of you fellow A4 owners have ever run into this problem?
Also at 65K miles what PM needs to be done besides the normal oil/filter change?
thanks
David

Default that's not the kind of warranty *I* would want....

essentially "if your timing belt breaks (which means grenading your engine thus very likely weeks of downtime for diagnosis, parts shipments, and labor) we will replace it no charge"....uhh no thanks. Think preventative and replace the belt before it breaks.

Default Sounds typical. However...read the fine print on your warranty...

Some companies will want proof via receipts, records, etc. showing that all Preventative Maint. has been done to justify paying for a repair of any caliber. That way, if someone doesn't do any maint, they can't pop an engine at 70K and expect everything replaced for free, etc.

Just my $0.02

Default I am assured as well but dealer said if preventative maintenance isnt done then it's not covered...

because timing belt is "maintenance" and "maintenance" is not covered by audi assured. I think the maintenance schedule calls for it to be replaced at 60k therefore if your past that and havent had it done it isnt covered. This is only what my dealer told me...for all I know yours could be different but I dont think so.
