Mine did not. It was replaced (at 50K) with the new design.

I say try and get it done before even 50k.... right before getting out of warranty

Default Depending on MY, yes, Audi will recommend as they think appropriate.

It varies a lot from MY to MY - I reviewed with a service mgr. the sheet that they go by. If you're still under warranty, i.e., less than 50K miles, I wouldn't sweat it. If your car is chipped, I would change all timing, serpentine belts, etc., well before your recommended change time. They said 90K for me, and I'm doing it at 65K.
