Default DIY...its wicked easy. The process of changing the timing belt and pump...

removes most of the coolant anyway. Ask my garage floor...every inch has been covered in G12

G12 I believe is 50K mile coolant. Regular green stuff is like 20K miles

Default refill it... right.... raj?

After Woodlawn did my timing belt etc. and we drove it back home, the coolant light came on and I realized it was very low (well below the "Low" line). My dad and I filled it back up and the light never came back on, so we were good there, but I checked on the bill and they had billed us for something like "coolant" (the bill is at home with all my car documentation, otherwise I'd check) for I want to say something around $20 or $30. I figured the charge was for the flushing after I read what you posted about flushing being part of the TB process a while ago, but it definitely wasn't a $70 charge, and they definitely didn't put new coolant in. Am I missing something?

Default There's something I'm missing here...

If they billed you for coolant, they definitely replaced it. For $30, they couldn't have done a flush, because that would take 1 hour of their time (which is more than $30). My only guess is that there was residual air in the system, and it worked it's way out. Coolant from the reservoir was drawn into the system, and maybe that's why the coolant level dropped?

I'm guessing here. Woodlawn runs an honest shop, so I'm looking elsewhere for an explanation...it's gotta be something simple like that.

Default That would have been a LOT of air, it was looow...

So I don't know what to tell you. It was well below the "Low" line so I figured they'd drained it and forgotten to add more. Maybe it was a disposal charge or something like that...

You should have called them and asked them when it happened...too late now.

Default Yeah, I know I know, I just figured after filling it up and no more error light...

Don't fix what isn't broken. Something like that. Oh well, I don't think it is a problem, your idea about air backed up in the system sounds feasible.
