Default It is "lifetime" fluid. With that said...

I would recommend changing it around 60-70K or so, if not sooner.

Some people will tell you it is not *good* for it... that is cr@p IMHO. Just be SURE you use the correct AUDI fluid and filter, and you'll need a Vag-Com to fill it properly.

Default Yeah, I can't believe that it will hurt the tranny to change the fluid.

but at 60k I wouldn't feel a huge need to change it unless you are noticing sluggish shifting or miss shifts. With that said, I'm at 86k and planning on doing it in the near future even though everything is running great.

You could try Mobil 1 ATF.

Default Don't try it.

The Audi fluid is a special mineral oil base and although the M1 may work, and they may even mix OK together (doubt it)... why do that and take a chance?
The correct fluid is not hard to get any Audi or VW dealer and/or good foreign car shop will have it.

Default Mine was changed to M1 ATF shortly before I bought my car..

It has been almost 2 years and no issues yet (15k relatively hard miles, ECU and tranny chipped). Although I am still being paranoid and plan on changing to Audi ATF at the first sign of problems or within the next 10k miles..
