..I'm getting a new shift plate installed (badly scratched) and I was wondering what individuals have done to prevent damage. (Any products out there like stongard for the shift plate?) Thanks for all the help.

Re: you can be the first!
Thanks ;^)
I'll most likely ask the dealer for the original plate. We'll see how successful my attempt will be. Any ideas on where to purchase these "films?"

All you gotta do is get the clear plastic film that comes on a new car!
I just asked them to keep my clear film plastic (kinda like stoneguard) on my tiptronic plate. On the new tiptronic cars, they ship it from the factory with the film, but they peel it off when they prep the car for delivery. You can just ask a dealer to save you one or something. I have mine, and it works like a charm, you don't even notice it on the shift plate! =)

Armourfend
I think if you go this route it'd have to be done with the plate removed since you need to spray a solution on the surface to get the film to adhere. (Very much like window tinting is done.)
I've had Armourfend installed on my car and am real happy with it. The folks up at the Greenwich, CT headquarters facility are real nice and I'm sure they'd be willing to work with you on getting a template down. You could probably just send your old plate for them for work from.

Armourfend America
