Default Tiptronic problems, please help.

I have a VAG code for "up/down" shifter short in system or something.

Any ideas? Would greatly appreciate help. Thanks.

Default I've heard of that...

last person who had that problem found a short in the Tiptronic shifter plate. Under that plate is a small circuit board that connects wires to three different places to run your tiptronic. That circuit board is really fragile. If not the circuit board it very well could be the TCU. The TCU is located at the pass. footwell and others have had problems of moisture shorting it out. I really think you have a shorted circuit board in the tiptronic shifter. Who knows, you may be able to take it apart and get it to work again. I don't suggest that unless you are comfortable with that type of investigating on your A4.
