Default On a tiptronic tranny, does up-shifting too early to achieve low rpm wear the tranny...MORE inside..

more than if you just kept the rpm high? for example, which would wear the tranny less:
1. 2k rpm at 4th gear, upshifting to 5th gear, thus making the rpm drop to like 1.8k (in order to increase MPG).

or

2. just keeping in 4th gear even at 2.5 rpm?

which scenario would wear the tranny more? i just wanted to know so i can change my driving habits...to save gas? or to save tranny?

I don't think it will let you shift up if the revs are below what is needed.

Anything you do to save gas will save the tranny as well.

Driving with style 1 is fine... But drive with style 2.
