Tiptronic trans has HORRIBLE shifting points...
Okay I'm not sure if my car is just screwy or if all A4 w/ tip are like this.
Anways, whenever I stop on a hill, then start again, the car goes into 1st gear like normal, then even when I"m slowing acelerating (so slow joggers can pass me) the car will REMAIN in 1st gear till about 4k rpm... so you slowly hear the car's engine getting lounder and louder. Also when I just start normaly on flat ground it will quite often keep in 1st gear until 3.5k rmp. What gives?! My honda (yes this is my 1st german car) never had such problems. Gears 2-5 seem fine just the 1st gear is really pissing me off (ya I know I should have gotten a stick but I don't know how to drive 5spd...)

My guesses: It's probably the hill detection kicking in. Normally, this would prevent the tranny from "hunting" gears when climbing a hill. As far as staying in 1st until 3500 goes, are you running at Wide Open Throttle? ...but what do I know. I'm still waiting impatiently for mine. Be happy you have an automatic. I currently have a 5spd, but opted for the tip so that other people could help drive on long trips. BTW, if you want to learn to drive a 5spd, just buy one. You'll learn REAL quickly
