Tire choice Falken Azenis ST115 vs. Kumho SPT
#3
I'm running the SPT
Had them now for about 500 miles. Decent wet/dry grip & no noise, but the sidewalls are softer than my old F1 GSD3s. They are cheap, so you get what you pay for. I hope they last at least 20K miles.

my friend has been complaning about the same thing - the sidewalls suck
he runs like 15" wheels so his sidewalls are thicker then mines - so he even has a bigger flex. He told me that want to be high performance tires cheap out on the sidewall - and notice a lot of flex when coming into corners

I've owned both.
Sold the 115s after two weeks of ownership. NOT a performance tire as advertised.
The SPT is good value and does nothing poorly. It's a well-rounded performance tire, but doesn't truly excel at anything, other than being a good value. That said, I'm happy with them.
If I were in the market for new tires, I'd get Yoko s.drives.

For what application?
I've found that Azenis are great for Auto X tires but they are not so great on the track. As we all know the Azenis heat up very quickly and get super sticky which is great for street/auto-x.
But on the track I found that my Azenis would end up over heating. And by the end of any session I would end up sliding due to the fact that the tires did not grip as well.
Running the Hankook Ventus RS2s now which have the same 200 tread wear. Just takes longer for them to cycle up which is great for the track since the first lap is always done under a caution flag any who.
Azenis for street/auto-x
Khumo for street/track
