Default Tire replacement question?

I have a question regarding tire choice. I have a 2000 2.8 Quattro and after going through Tire Rack I narrowed my choices down to two tires: Continental ContiExtremeContact 205/55VR16 or the Kumho HP4 716 205/55HR16. Any comments/suggestions? I am leaning towards the Continentals but figured I would ask.

I searched the posts but there wasn't a good thread on tire selection.

I run Kuhmo 712's right now but have pretty good things about the Conti's.

Default I have the ContiExtremes in 225/45-17. They're a pretty good all season tire. I dont have much to

compare it to. I had the Goodyear RS-A's in 205/55-16, which really sucked. I also run winter tires in the snow.

2nd. That's what I did with my stock 16" wheels. Feels OK so far.

Default Re: Tire replacement question?

I am looking to go 215/55/16 on my 1999.5 a4 1.8tq. I was feeling around the back of the tires and it seems there is a very small gap between the tire and suspension. Will butting 215 still fit? please help.

Default How about Falken Ziex 512s?

Very good low priced tire. Lots of people on AW like them.

Yup, that's what I got. See my post below about going to a 225/50R-16 on my stock wheels.

Default I just got a set of 205s, didn't even think of widening them...

oh well, too late. Just changed out my Dunlop 8000s for the all season Falkens. So far I like the ride better, but I haven't tried any handling tests yet until I break them in.
