Default Tire Size?

I have a 2001 A4 Quatro (16" 10-spoke wheels) The current tire is 205/55-16. Does anyone know if 225/50-16 will fit?

Default Lots of good stuff in the wheel and tire forum...

... this question has been asked over there lots of times. Yes, the 225/50 tire will fit on that rim. The only thing you have to watch for is rubbing on the inside. It should fit without problems, but there is the odd chance that it might rub. I'm was going to go with the 225/50 tire on the 10 spoke 16" sport rim and I wasn't concerned about rubbing at all. In the end, I picked up a set of A8 5 spoke 16" rims with ET35 offset that I was going to use for my winiter wheels but now I'm going to go with the A8 rims for summer so I won't have to worry at all about rubbing on the inside.

Thanks, but I have asked the question on the wheel and tire forum, and it has not yet been answered. The problem is, no one seems to know for sure.

It's 7" wide. From what I have read 225's are the recommended size for 7" wheels. and Even Audi's original specs for this car called for 215's on this wheel.

The stock 16's are 7" wide, and yes a 225/50 works just fine. Many have done it.
