Default Tire sizes for 99 A4 17" rims?

I just got an Audi A4, 2.8L and the person I got it from had 17" Rims with a tire size of 225/45/17. Is this A size that works or may it be a little too much? The insides of the front tires were more worn out then the rest of the tire. Any tips on the different sizes that work for an A4 with 17" rims?

Default Online Tires?

Thanks for the help, ill stick with the 225 then and get a alignment. I'm planning to buy the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110, problem is both Tirerack and DiscountTiresDirect are out of my size and have it on back order. Does anyone know of another good place to buy online tires?

Im lowered too, and it didn't seem like a problem. Any good online sites to buy tires out there besides for discount tires direct and tire rack?

1010tires.com

I still think you can't beat tirerack when it comes to online purchasing. Can't go wrong with them. Survey/Review/Purchase all in one.
