Tires.. How much do they contribute to car's performance?
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/99760/kumho_ecsta_mx_tire-resized200.jpg"></center><p>Just out of curiosity... how much difference does a set of tires make in terms of car's acceleration time? Slalom speed? Lateral acceleration?
All-season v. summer performance tires... How does the 0-60 and/or 1/4mile time differ (using any car as an example)?
Just got curious after reading an old Road & Track comparison of Acura TSX v. Subaru Legacy where the editor noted that the TSX's performance numbers would have been a lot better if it had summer performance tires instead of the all-seasons.
I know the tires make a significant contribution to a car's overall performance but I just want to be able to SEE it represented in numbers for better understanding.
Thanks guys!

Wheels/Tires pretty much can make or break the driving impression of a car
If you put P6's on a RS4 in place of the P-zero Rossos... there will be a very noticeable difference. Sure most people wont be able to appreciate the Rossos, but most people dont buy an RS4, they buy a camry and put the cheapest ****ty all season wears like fvckin iron tires on it. BTW those wears like iron tires handle like crap and they compromise EVERYTHING to have a nice long life. If you have a sense of humor and a gran or two to waste Put some 17" wheels and 225 or 235 wide Rossos on a camry... I bet the car will feel like a different animal, it might actually have some stick in the turns and without doubt braking will be improved.
Tires are like shoes, does it help to wear cleats when playing soccer? Does it help to wear boots when hiking?

I have a solidly handling car as it is...after the KDW BFG's it was in a league of it's own..
I'm consistantly fighting for class win in my Auto-X club.....the class allows DOT R compounds...*'nuff said*

a lot! going from winters to summers is always a big change for me.
for months, I get used to excellent grip on off ramps and it never fails ... the first off ramp with the winters always seems to have a pucker moment. you'd think I'd learn by now.

He and I are in G-Prepared...I'm running 4th-5th with just A8 Brakes and a Chip...
This is against about 10 cars (integras, Mini Coopers, Cooper S, and Mazda Speed 6, ACR Neon) with only Justin, one of the mazda speed 6's, and I running street tires. Everyone else on Race Rubber.
